S23 Ultra is leaked to use E6 AMOLED with 2200nits Peak Brightness; beats iPhone 14 Pro

Samsung was the company to popularize the AMOLED in phones and they were obviously the ones doing it the best. However, over the past couple of years, the iPhones have taken a lead by factory calibrating every display and paying minute attention to colour gamut and saturation. One area where iPhones are leading is the brightness with 2000nits peak brightness. That is certainly overkill but will help you a lot in extremely sunny conditions.

A recent leak by Sammy Fans tipped that the upcoming Samsung S23 Ultra will come with a more advanced E6 AMOLED. It will have a peak brightness of 2200nits and stronger glass protection. It will be a 6.8-inch 1440×3088 screen. For reference, this year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra peaked at 1750nits.

The E6 display is designed by Samsung. It supports 12-bit colours with PWM dimming of 1440Hz. It will come in the majority of 2023 flagships including Xiaomi 13.

Samsung Galaxy S23 is rumoured to boast a slightly larger footprint than last year. It will also bring camera improvements and Samsung is considering a 200-Megapixel sensor for the main camera. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will power the phone. It will debut in February of next year. Stay tuned for further updates.
