Gears 6 is the Next Game by The Coalition

The developer is now fully focusing on Gears 6; non-Gears projects are canceled.

The Coalition, the new developer behind the Gears, formerly known as Gears of War, has allegedly decided on their next project.

According to Jeff Grubb, a reputable Xbox insider, Gears 6 will be the next major game from the developer. The Coalition has allegedly dropped all of their smaller non-Gears projects to better focus on the sequel.

This leak came after the recent Microsoft layoffs that hit The Coalition, 343 Industries, and Bethesda the most.

The decision to work on smaller projects was to make the team comfortable with Unreal Engine 5. However, the developer felt that working on Epic Games’ The Matrix Awakens Demo has done that job.

Gears is the second biggest IP for Xbox, so it would make sense that Microsoft would want a new game in the series as fast as possible. Previous leaks have also suggested that Gears Collection, similar to Halo: MCC, is also in the works. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
