Death Stranding

If the hint is accurate then a Sony-owned IP would be coming to a Microsoft-owned subscription service.

Recent tomfoolery on Twitter suggests that PC Game Pass is getting a very unusual addition. Death Stranding, a Sony-owned IP, could be coming to the PC version of Xbox Game Pass.

Yesterday, the Twitter page of PC Game Pass updated its profile picture to a landscape and tweeted, “sometimes we just like a good landscape picture”. It might not have meant much on its own, but the picture looked very similar to the world of Death Stranding.

Twitter user, @naven0m, replied to the tweet with two screenshots from the game that perfectly matches the new profile pic.

Unless this is an elaborate prank by Microsoft, I think it is safe to assume that Kojima’s post-apocalyptic game is coming to the subscription service.

Death Stranding’s addition to PC Game Pass is quite a bold move on Sony’s part. Maybe it’s a mutually beneficial decision. Microsoft will gain new customers for their service, and Sony will make extra money from a three-year-old niche IP.

The PC port of Death Stranding’s potential addition to Game Pass could be a one-off as 505 Games published the PC port, not Sony.

What does this mean for other Sony-owned IPs? Can God of War come to PC Game Pass? What about Horizon Zero Dawn? It is unlikely, but still possible.
