The Last of Us Multiplayer Game

Fortnite’s Veteran is now working as the Principal Monetization Designer for Naughty Dog

Details about the upcoming Naughty Dog project are scarce. We know it is a standalone multiplayer game set in the universe of The Last of Us, and it is coming to the PlayStation platform. Everything else is a mystery.

Well, a recent hire by the developer may have revealed something crucial. The highly anticipated game could very well be a free-to-play title.

Important Hire

Naughty Dog recently hired Anders Howard for the role of Principal Monetization Designer. Howard was previously the Senior Systems Designer on Fortnite — a successful free-to-play game.

One person getting a job isn’t enough to think that the TLOU MP game is going to be free. However, previous shenanigans make this speculation a little more likely.

Naughty Dog Job Posting

Previous Hints

Naughty Dog’s previous job posting had keywords such as “free to play” and “live service”. Combining all of this and the fact that live-service multiplayer games are often successful when they are free (Fortnite, COD Warzone, Apex Legends), there is a good chance that TLOU MP will follow suit.

Other Speculation

The upcoming game could also get a PC release on Day One. This speculation isn’t made out of thin air. The Head of PlayStation Studios had previously said that live service games would get a Day One PC release as these games need a significant player base to survive.
