Darya Dugina dies in a car explosion in Moscow

Russia’s investigative committee said that Darya Dugina died when her car blew up as she drove home earlier this weekend. While she was accompanied by her father at a festival where he spoke earlier that day, they did not go home together.

The two were going to ride home from the event in the same car on Saturday night, but Mr. Dugin decided at the last minute to travel separately.

It is believed that the attack was intended for her father, the Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin, who is known as “Putin’s brain.” Mr. Dugin is rumored to be close to the Russian president because of his well-known ultranationalist ideologies.

Investigators have confirmed that Darya Dugina died at the scene near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy. According to them the bomb went off before the car caught on fire; the investigation is still underway with forensic and explosive experts looking deeper into the incident.

These developments may be troublesome for Putin and his close allies given the new internal security threats they may need to consider in the wake of growing tensions in the country.
